In April 2025, Professor Sasho Gligorovski joined the Environmental Science and Engineering Group at Guangdong Technion – Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT). He earned his Ph.D. in 2005 from the Leibniz Institute for Tropospheric Research (TROPOS) in Germany. Following this, he completed a one-year postdoctoral fellowship at IRCELYON in France (2005–2006). From 2006 to 2017, he held positions as Assistant Professor and later Associate Professor at Aix Marseille University in France. In 2017, he was appointed Full Professor at the Guangzhou Institute of Geochemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, where he worked until April 2025. Professor Gligorovski’s pioneering research investigates the kinetics, mechanisms, and photochemistry of multiphase reactions occurring on environmental surfaces. His work spans aerosols, urban grime, oceanic interfaces, and indoor environments, providing critical data for regional and global photochemical models. These contributions are vital to addressing pressing challenges such as air quality degradation and climate change, positioning his research at the forefront of sustainable solutions for the 21st century. With over 100 SCI-indexed publications, Professor Gligorovski as a corresponding author has authored groundbreaking studies in top-tier journals, including Science, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), Science Advances, Journal of the American Chemical Society (JACS), Chemical Reviews, and Environmental Science and Technology, among the others. He has received prestigious fellowships and awards including National Natural Science Foundation of China International Excellent Senior Scientists Fellowship in 2022, Excellent Mentor of Graduate Students by Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2024, 2023 and 2021, Zhu Li Yuehua outstanding Professor of the Chinese Academy of Science award in 2023, Best Project Award nominated by the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy, France in 2012, and three times recipient of the visiting fellowship from the European Commission (EC).
