There are nearly 300 campers and team leaders from 28 countries and regions for the Asian Science Camp 2019.
Let's follow us to see what they eat in the GTIIT canteen.
At five o'clock in the morning, GTIIT canteen staff have started a busy day while campers are still sleeping. Light the fire, put on the food streamer, boil soymilk, stir fried rice-noodles, make the corn juice… When the day dawned, delicious breakfast was fresh from the oven.
The camp provides buffets for campers, including Chinese cuisine like fried eggs with tomatoes, sauteed mutton with scallion, Chinese rice pudding and western dishes such as salad, sandwiches, fried potatoes and pasta. Muslim food is served as well. Considering different eating habits, chopsticks as well as knives and forks are prepared. There are also various kinds of seasoning for campers to choose from.
"Eating habits in China and Japan are almost the same," said Haruki Yagi, a camper who comes from Japan, "so I accommodate the life here." Tom Arnold from Australia pointed out that although the flavor is kind of sweet and salty, he really enjoys new types of food. Israeli camper Roy Fainaru highly recommended popcorn chicken as the favorite dish.
Special dishes are provided for participants who have food allergy. "We will try our best to meet the campers and team leaders' needs." said the canteen staff.
