A national flag raising ceremony was held at GTIIT this morning to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

At 6:50 am, over 300 people, including the cohort of 2019 and faculty representatives gathered for the flag raising ceremony. This was the first year GTIIT organized this event, which also attracted many foreign teachers, staff and students.

While the participants sang and appreciated the National anthem, the bright five-starred red flag was rising with the sun and flying in the breeze.

An inspiring speech was delivered by Prof. Lin Danming, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Party Branch Secretary of GTIIT during the ceremony. He spoke of how the Party has united the people and led them to achieve historic achievements over the past 70 years and encouraged GTIIT students to make great new contributions to humankind with patriotic passion and grand efforts.

"This was my first flag raising ceremony in my life."said Naama Avrchami, in-coming Pro-Vice Chancellor and Director General of GTIIT. She was very impressed by the new cohort of GTIIT students. "How respectful they were to their country and to our institution. All my best wishes to our students and faculty, to Shantou, to Guangdong Province and to China."

Chung Ho Yin, a freshman from Hong Kong was moved by today's ceremony. "I am very proud of my home, my country." As a science student, he aspires to make valuable contributions to the country after his 4 years of study at GTIIT.

Celin Chan, a student from Ecuador expressed her excitement after the ceremony. "I am very happy to know that my parents are from China. Studying in Israel is my dream. I took this opportunity to GTIIT, in China, in the motherland of my parents. I am proud of participating in this morning's ceremony, and I am happy to be part of the GTIIT family."
