On the afternoon of July 19th, Wen Zhanbin, Secretary of the Shantou Municipal Committee of the CPC, led a team to Guangdong Technion - Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) to conduct a research on advancing the coordinated development of science, education, and talent in our city, and expediting the establishment of a regional educational hub.

The team visited the Research Building in GTIIT's North Campus and the Research Center in the South Campus. They inspected the Cryo-Electron Microscopy Center and Research Center, and held a symposium at the Academic Center to receive a briefing on the university's operations and engage in in-depth discussions on relevant issues.

Wen Zhanbin emphasized that in recent years, with the correct leadership and strong support from the Provincial Party Committee and the provincial government, GTIIT has made solid achievements in advancing discipline construction, enhancing training mechanisms, fostering scientific research innovation, and serving the society. These efforts have actively contributed to promoting scientific and technological self-reliance and achieving high-quality development in Shantou and even in Guangdong Province. He hoped that the university would comprehensively implement the national strategies of revitalizing the country through science and education, strengthening the nation through talent development, and driving development through innovation. This includes further optimizing the construction of the faculty and talent training methods, deepening the collaborative synergy between government, industry, academia, and research, enhancing international exchange and cooperation, achieving development with substance, and making all-out efforts to build an internationally renowned high-level university. The Municipal Party Committee and the municipal government will continue to support the construction and development of the university. Relevant departments should enhance communication and coordination with the university, providing support in areas such as laboratory construction, recruitment of high-level talents, introduction and sharing of research equipment, etc. This will promote the efficient and orderly development of GTIIT in teaching, research and management, and provide intellectual support to contribute to Shantou's strategy of "Establish the City with Industry, Strengthen the City with Industry".

After the symposium, the team also visited GTIIT Affiliated Bilingual School to inspect its teaching conditions and preparations for the new semester.

The municipal leaders Lin Ruiwu and Wang Xuezhu; Prof. Gong Xingao, Chancellor of GTIIT; Prof. Lin Danming, Pro-Vice Chancellor of GTIIT and other relevant staff attended the event.
