Recently, the First International Conference on Nano Energy and Technology (ICNEAT-2024), organized by Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Materials and Technologies for Energy Conversion (MATEC), Guangdong Technion - Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) and assisted by China-Israel Jizhi (Guangzhou) Technology Co., was held in GTIIT. Over 230 experts, academicians, scholars, and industry professionals from 14 countries and regions gathered to discuss the cutting-edge research results in nano energy.
Academician Gong Xingao serves as the Honorary Chair of the Conference. The Advisory Committee members included Academicians Duan Wenhui, Feng Donglai, Ma Yanming, Nan Cewen, Wang Weihua, Yao Xi, Zhao Dongyuan and other experts.
Prof. Gong Xingao, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chancellor of GTIIT, Honorary Chair of the Conference attended online meeting and extended a warm welcome to the guests. He introduced that GTIIT, combining the high-quality educational resources of the Technion, was committed to providing world-class science, engineering, and technology education. GTIIT highly values basic research and talent cultivation and is one of the youngest universities included in the High-level University Construction Plan of Guangdong Province. MATEC, as a key laboratory in Guangdong Province, actively carries out research on energy conversion materials and technology, promoting technological innovation and industrial development. He hoped the participants could provide thoughtful understandings and establish close connections, contributing their wisdom to the development of new energy technology.
Academician Zhao Dongyuan participated in the Conference online and delivered a keynote speech titled "Molecular Superassembly for Functional Mesoporous Materials and Their Future Applications".
Prof. Daniel Tan, Director of MATEC, Deputy Head of GTIIT Materials Science and Engineering Program, and General Chair of the Conference presided over the opening ceremony and delivered a welcome speech. He pointed out that the conference would focus on the latest advancements in new energy and new materials that are shaping the future of the fields, and foster in-depth integration of industry, university and research.
During the conference, companies and GTIIT research teams signed cooperation agreements covering fields including new materials and new energy, further promoting the integration of academic research and industrial applications.
Li Yue, a chief R&D Engineer from a local company signed with GTIIT said, "as a leading company in the industry, we hoped that through cooperation with GTIIT, we could make good use of the university's innovative resources, introduce innovative technologies, and reduce costs and increase efficiency for our products."
"The cooperation allowed a combination of energy, nanotechnology, and biotechnology to facilitate new quality productive forces," said Assoc. Prof. Xu Peng from GTIIT Chemical Engineering Program. "What the academicians and experts shared has been very inspiring for us. We hope to carry out more industry-academia-research activities in the future and better contribute to our local economy."
The four-day conference was centered around themes of batteries, super-capacitors, capacitors and dielectric devices, nonlinear dielectric materials and devices, and energy storage/conversion technologies with a multitude of academic talks and discussion sessions held at the same time. Participants all gave high recognition to the conference for facilitating in-depth academic exchanges to promote extensive integration of industry, academia, and research, as well as presenting the inclusive academic environment of GTIIT.
GTIIT faculty and students also participated in this high-standard scientific conference with posters and speeches of their latest scientific research. Through the conference, they learned about the trending research topics in related areas and were heavily involved in international academic exchanges.
