MSE poster session held at GTIIT

PostTime:6/19/2024

To showcase the academic fruits of students, the Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) at Guangdong Technion - Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) recently carried out a poster session, displaying nearly 40 advanced research projects by MSE senior students.

Dozens of distinctive posters were displayed in sequence on the first floor of Research Building, with groups of students gathering around the display boards and enthusiastically introducing their research findings in a lively atmosphere.

The projects were led by a team of MSE undergraduate students and supervised by 12 supervisors from various fields. The presentation covered different research fields, such as electrical insulating material, thin film for magnetic study, high pressure study, biodegradable metal, computational simulation, nano-particles, and electrochemical energy storage device applications. The students worked tightly with their supervisors. Their tireless dedication and unwavering commitment have led them to achieve remarkable breakthroughs and propel the field of material science forward.

“The project I presented is titled ‘Exploring the Effects of Direct Current Voltage and Alternating Current Voltage on the Structure of Ferroelectric Materials,’ and this research is very helpful in understanding the impact of voltage on ferroelectric materials,” said Qin Haonan, a senior MSE student. He mentioned the research not only expanded his knowledge scale but also enhanced his experimental and data processing skills.

Moreover, the projects are involved in compulsory credits, while outstanding research is possibly to be published in academic journals. Currently, undergraduate students from GTIIT MSE program have published 25 academic papers, showcasing their innovative strength and laying a solid foundation for their growth.

This year marks the graduation of the fourth batch of MSE students in GTIIT. The presentation focused on material synthesis and application, portraying the research achievements of these students over the past year or even longer. Each piece of work reflects their diligent efforts and carries the joy of harvest.

“In my laboratory, I have mentored 60 students over the past 4 years. I am very pleased to see these students ‘fly’ out one by one after learning and achieve more than me in the future. I am really happy for them,” said Prof. Daniel Tan, Deputy Head of GTIIT MSE Program. He emphasized that the project embodies the distinctive teaching method of the department, integrating theory and practice, combining teaching with student research, to comprehensively cultivate talents.
