Recently, Guangdong Technion - Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) held the first Awarding Ceremony of the "CICP Scholarship" and the 2023 Awarding Ceremony of the "Fanghui Scholarship", to encourage GTIIT students to actively engage in scientific research and reward the society.
Leaders and guests attending the ceremonies included: Prof. Gong Xingao, Chancellor of GTIIT and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; Dr. Queena Yi, Pro-Vice Chancellor for Development of GTIIT and President of GTIIT Education Foundation; Zhang Yunhui, Chairman of Hunan Chamber of Commerce in Shantou.
The "CICP Scholarship" is rewarding Changzhou students who enroll in GTIIT through National College Entrance Examination. This scholarship aims at helping students from Changzhou to study at GTIIT – the China Campus of the Technion, where they could receive high-level science and technology education. It will also provide GTIIT students more opportunities to carry out research and take internships at the industry, which helps promote the cultivation of outstanding innovative talents. The "Fanghui Scholarship", established in 2022, was donated by Mr. Zhang Yunhui and his wife Mrs. Lu Huifang to support GTIIT's talent cultivation and innovation.
Chancellor Gong expressed the appreciation to Mr. and Mrs. Zhang for their donation, on behalf of the University. He pointed out that the Scholarship not only allowed more students to access the high-quality education resource of GTIIT, but also encouraged the scholarship winners to give back to the society. He hoped that the students could learn to create by active learning, communicating and discussing.
At the awarding ceremony of CICP Scholarship, Dr. Queena Yi, Pro-Vice Chancellor for Development of GTIIT and President of GTIIT Education Foundation expressed her congratulations and expectations to the students. She pointed out that the establishment of the Scholarship will attract more outstanding students to apply for GTIIT and cultivate more innovative and excellent talents for China and Israel, and would further promote cooperation and development between the two countries in various fields such as education and technology.
The students expressed their gratitude to the donors and their determination to continue their efforts. "Thanks to Mr. Zhang's donation. We will try our best to learn and go back to the society and our nation," said Liu Yifei, one of the winners of the Fanghui Scholarship and a GTIIT freshman student from Mathematics with Computer Science. Liu Zelin from 2023 cohort of GTIIT Biotechnology and Food Engineering Program, as well as one of the winners of the CICP Scholarship, shared that he would cherish every moment in GTIIT to learn more knowledge and carry out research.
