Recently, the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) announced the results of the 2023 National Natural Science Foundation of China applications, and eight projects from Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) had been approved, including four general projects, two young scientist projects and two foreign scholars research projects, with a total project funding of 4.23 million yuan. 

NSFC Projects are high-level and influential scientific research projects in the field of scientific research in China, and the fund’s approval is an important indicator to measure the level of research and innovation ability of universities. 

This year's approved projects from GTIIT have two characteristics: first, two foreign scholar research projects have been approved (109 projects nationwide), which further highlights the university's international research orientation; Second, all approved projects focus on the three pillar areas of GTIIT, namely, environment, energy, and human health, which fully reflects the supporting role of research in the overall development of the university. 

GTIIT has started its research efforts for a relatively short time, but it has developed rapidly. The university has been approved more than 100 national and provincial research projects, published nearly 1,000 research papers, and obtained more than ten patents (including two international patents and one invention patent). In recent years, the university has vigorously promoted the construction of key research and innovation platforms such as the Nan'ao Science Forum, Guangdong Key Laboratory of Energy Conversion Materials and Technology, and the GTIIT-Changzhou China-Israel Innovation Park Strategic Cooperation Platform and made significant progress, laying a solid foundation for the development of a high-level science and engineering research university.
