On August 7, Prof. Lin Danming, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Secretary of General Party Branch Committee of Guangdong Technion – Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT), delivered an introductory lecture for the 2023 cohort.

Chinese President Xi Jinping has emphasized the importance of cultivating talents that meet the expectation of the country. "We live in an era of challenges and hopes, an era led by science and technology, and an era that calls for talents." Prof. Lin Danming introduced "Qian Xuesen's Question" and pointed out the significance of scientific, technological and innovative talents in the revival of our country. He pointed out that GTIIT's programs focused on the environment, energy and human health, and studying science and technology is to adapt to the trend of the times and meet the needs of economic and social development. The youth of today should be at the forefront of solving the "Qian Xuesen's question", and become the outstanding and innovative talents.

During the lecture, the freshmen marveled at Israel's world-renowned scientific and technological innovation strength and excellent education, and felt lucky to study at GTIIT, where they may enjoy the world-class teaching resources from the Technion. They further learned about GTIIT's characteristics, faculty team, scientific research and innovation, and were deeply encouraged by the outstanding performance of the senior students.

Universities are the places for cultivating talents. The mission of GTIIT is to build an innovation-driven and research-oriented Sino-foreign cooperative university in China. PVC Lin hopes that students will nurture their curiosity and imagination, practice the spirit of "Dream it. Do it", and study hard to contribute to both the country and society.

The inspiring "first lecture" has ignited a sense of anticipation among the freshmen as they embark on the journey ahead. Standing at the start of university life, the students expressed their ambition to hold themselves to higher standards, lay a solid foundation of professional knowledge, and work hard to realize their dreams!
