From July 30 to August 2, Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology and the Shantou Municipal Government held the fourth meeting of the Nan'ao Science Conference and the second Quantum Materials and Manipulation Symposium in Nan'ao, Shantou.
More than 30 experts and scholars from universities and scientific research institutions, including Chinese Academy of Science (CAS) academicians Gong Xingao, Chang Kai, Duan Wenhui and Fang Zhong; as well as leaders from National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). At the symposium, scholars presented reports on their latest research progress and discussed about the future and the challenges of their field.
Prof. Gong Xingao, CAS Academician and Chancellor of Guangdong Technion - Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT), introduced the University to the participants. He also shared the objective and achievements of Nan'ao Science Conference, pointing out its position as an academic exchange platform for basic research as well as major projects in Guangdong province. He hoped that the scientists could contribute their ideas for the development of the city and the province.
This is the fourth Nan'ao Science Conference since its first launch in February this year. The four sessions totally brought together more than 170 experts and scholars, including 42 academicians, to successfully build a high-end academic exchange platform and to gradually show the brand effect of the Conference.
Focusing on basic research and talent training in basic academic disciplines, GTIIT, as the Secretary Office unit and one of the organizers of the Nan-Ao Science Conference, has ensured the Conference's continued success while adhering to municipal strategy.
Chancellor Gong pointed out that the influence of the Conference continuously expanded, and an increasing number of scholars knew GTIIT through the Conference. "Because of the Conference, many scientists met GTIIT, learned more about GTIIT and supported GTIIT," he said.
High-level academic reports were delivered and heated discussions were held during the conference, making it an academic "feast" for all the participants.
