The Award Ceremony for the Academic Year 2021/22 of Guangdong Technion – Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) was held at GTIIT Auditorium to honour excellent students and teachers.
Prof. David Gershoni, Vice Chancellor of GTIIT; Prof. Moris S. Eisen, Pro-Vice Chancellor; Prof. Lin Danming, Pro-Vice Chancellor; Mr. Yigal Cohen, Pro-Vice Chancellor & Director General; Prof. Dganit Danino, Dean of Undergraduate Studies and Prof. Varenyam Achal, Deputy Dean of Undergraduate Studies attended the ceremony.
For the Academic Year 2021/22, 129 students obtained the Academic Excellence Award while 75 received the Chancellor's Scholarship. 6 students obtained the Excellence in Sports Education; 3 students won the Excellent Peer Tutor; 3 students obtained Excellence in Preparatory Courses – Independent Recruitment Students; 2 students won Chancellor's Scholarship of Cohort 2022 and 10 students won First-class Gaokao Scholarship of Cohort 2022. 8 teachers won the Excellence in Teaching Award.
Prof. David Gershoni, Vice Chancellor of GTIIT, gave an opening remark for the ceremony. "This is a wonderful occasion to award excellent teachers and students. GTIIT students learn the abilities that endure for a lifetime, including the way of thinking, the rules of knowledge and the skill of asking questions. I am very happy to see excellent students around the stage."
Lin Ruochong from Materials Science and Engineering, Cohort 2020, spoke as the student representative in the ceremony. "Immerse yourself in books when you are energetic. Relax with your healthy hobbies to refresh yourself. Always pay attention to where you are, when you are and how you are, and what next steps should be taken. Be brave and optimistic, and live a life in a continually optimized state."
Prof. Lin Danming, Pro-Vice Chancellor, congratulated the award-winning teachers and students. "It is the ceremony where your previous years, hard work, and persistence are recognized. It is a festive event for GTers who have expressed their intents of the pursuit of higher education goals. We encourage the students to express thanks to their parents, to the faculty, to the staff members, and to the peers, who have helped you, and to yourself for not giving up for any difficulties."
