The Second MATEC Academic Committee Meeting was held both online and offline.
Attendees included Prof. Zhao Dongyuan from Fudan University, Prof. Duan Wenhui and Prof. Li Jingfeng from Tsinghua University, Prof. Sun Jun from Xi'an Jiaotong University, Prof. Feng Donglai from University of Science and Technology of China, Prof. Zhao Zhentang from Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility Science Center, Prof. Duan Huiling and Prof. Guo Xuefeng from Peking University, Prof. Wang Yandong from University of Science and Technology Beijing, Prof. Li Xiaoguang from University of Science and Technology of China, Prof. Xiang Hongjun from Fudan University, Prof. Chen Zhanghai from Xiamen University, Prof. Wang Yaojin from Nanjing University of Science and Technology, Researcher Luo Haosu from Shanghai Institute of Ceramics of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Researcher Xu Dongsheng from Institute of Metal Research of Chinese Academy of Sciences.
In the opening speech, Prof. Daniel Tan, Deputy Head of MSE and Director of MATEC, introduced the scientific research achievements of the laboratory in energy conversion in the past year, as well as the team's internationalization and excellence. He said that the value of various advanced experimental instruments currently available in the laboratory exceeds 100 million yuan, with over 200 devices worth being higher than 100,000 yuan, which provides strong support for the research. Furthermore, there has been a significant increase in the technology incubation and commercialization of laboratory research achievements. Two technology transfer deals are under negotiation.
Dr. Wang Nan, Dr. Aleksandra Baron-Wiechec, Dr. He Xuezhong, and Dr. Qi Yuanshen from GTIIT respectively reported to the committee on the four research directions of the laboratory.
Prof. Zhao Dongyuan, Director of the Committee and participating scholars affirmed the progress achieved by the laboratory and commented on the work. They hoped that the laboratory would further strengthen team building, expand international cooperation, and increase efforts in the industrialization of research outcomes in the future.
At the end of the meeting, Prof. Daniel Tan stated that the laboratory would continue to strengthen cooperation and communication with domestic and foreign universities, research institutions and the industry, enhance the international academic influence and research transformation capacity, and promote technological innovation and application development in the field of energy conversion materials and technologies. MATEC will also strive to align its research directions with the needs of national strategic development and make outstanding contributions to the development of energy conversion materials and technologies in the country.
