Recently, the "Science and China" academicians and experts speaking tour event was held at Tung Wah High School of Dongguan City. Prof. Gong Xingao, Chancellor of Guangdong Technion - Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, led a team to visit the school and delivered a science lecture titled “From Atom to Computer, and Back” to the students.
This lecture is one of the series of high-level science lectures on "Science and China" jointly organized by the six ministries and commissions: the CAS, the Ministry of Education, the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the CPC, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and the China Association for Science and Technology. More than 700 students attended. In the lecture, Prof. Gong introduced the origin, development history, current situation, challenges, and importance of computing technology, and explained that computing and physics are mutually synergistic. He also expressed his expectations that the next generation of computational material science needs joint efforts from students.
The hall was packed with enthusiastic students. In the interactive session, students actively asked questions. The lecture sparked a wave of science and technology learning among students.
Tung Wah High School of Dongguan City is one of the first brand schools in Dongguan. In the meeting, Prof. Gong introduced the highlights of GTIIT’s teaching, programs, and graduates. On behalf of GTIIT, Prof. Gong signed a cooperative agreement with Tung Wah High School of Dongguan City and awarded the "Recognized School for Excellent Students" plaque to the school. In the future, the two sides would conduct cooperation on talent cultivation.
Dongguan's science and technology innovation atmosphere has grown stronger in recent years, attracting sci-tech talents to work here. GTIIT has established stable strategic cooperative relations with the China-Israel International Technology Cooperation Industrial Park located in Songshan Lake, Dongguan, as well as the Songshan Lake Materials Laboratory, which is one of the first Guangdong provincial laboratories. We look forwards to working together and forming complementary advantages in future cooperation. We are excited to collaborate and create complementary advantages in future collaboration.
