Yesterday, Guangdong Technion - Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) held the inauguration ceremony of GTIIT Technology and Entrepreneurship Center (GTEC), to open a new chapter of GTIIT industry-university-research, build an entrepreneurship "gas station" for faculty and students, create a technology center for regional economy, and practice the GTIIT innovation spirit "Dream It, Do it".
Prof. David Gershoni, Vice Chancellor of GTIIT; Prof. Moris Eisen, Pro-Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs of GTIIT; Mr. Yigal Cohen, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Director General of GTIIT; Michael Lv, Director of GTEC; Raanan Adin, Senior Consultant to Vice-President for Innovation and Industry Relations of GTIIT; Ben Haimi, Economic Consul of Head of Israel Economic and Trade affair missions in South and East China; representatives of Shantou Government, industry partners, GTIIT faculty and students attended the ceremony.
Guangdong Technion Technology and Entrepreneurship Center (GTEC) was established in 2021 and is responsible for four major functions: identify research results that have commercial value, register them as patents and find industries that can use them; collaborate with industry in the research and development of projects; support innovation through accelerator and incubator programs; and educate and encourage innovation and entrepreneurship by training and consulting to industry and government.
Ben Haimi, Economic Consul, Head of Israel Economic and Trade Affair Missions in South and East China gave high recognition to the innovation ecosystem and scientific achievements of GTIIT. "GTEC will provide a platform for entrepreneurs to come together, exchange ideas, and develop cutting-edge technologies that will shape the future of our world. I believe that the GTEC incubator will play a critical role in fostering innovation and entrepreneurship, and in building bridges between our two great nations!" he said.
Prof. David Gershoni, Vice Chancellor of GTIIT extended a warm welcome to the guests and congratulations to the inauguration of GTEC. He indicated that economic development cannot be achieved without science, and GTEC built a bridge between science and the industry, and also helped promote scientific inventions.
Prof. Moris Eisen pointed out that GTIIT encouraged faculty and students to think out of the box, which would help advance science and thus promote the industry evolution. He introduced that GTEC would take on the functions of on-campus sharing of intellectual property, technology transformation and society education.

In the future, GTIIT will continue to increase investment in university-industry-research, to establish an innovative ecology chain with better management and more cooperation, and to accelerate the establishment of the university's science and technology incubator, and actively connect with Israel's high-end technology, to establish an innovative research university, to help build a national innovative city and regional innovation center.
