Recently, Prof. Gong Xingao, Chancellor of Guangdong Technion - Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, led a team to visit Suzhou High School of Jiangsu Province, and gave a science lecture to high school students.

During the visit, Prof. Gong Xingao introduced the basic situation, training mode, and graduates’ destination of GTIIT, demonstrating the features and advantages of the University. GTIIT’s unique education mode of “emphasizing foundation, thinking, research and innovation” and its achievements were highly recognized by the participants.

On behalf of GTIIT, Prof. Gong signed a cooperative agreement with Suzhou High School of Jiangsu Province and awarded the plaque “Recognized School for Excellent Students”. The two sides reached the consensus of cooperation on cultivating outstanding talents and advantage resource integration.

As a famous high school with almost 1000 years history, the first batch of innovative talent training bases in Jiangsu Province, and the training course base for top students in science in Jiangsu Province, Suzhou High School integrates traditional and modern culture, as well as Eastern and Western culture in its daily teaching which exactly coincides with GTIIT. As a model of China-Israel education cooperation and the China campus of Technion, GTIIT is based on the profound Chinese culture, introduced Israeli innovation and Jewish education, permeated the concept of "innovation and entrepreneurship" in undergraduate study, and has achieved fruitful results in technological innovation and students training.

Zhou Wenchang from the first cohort of GTIIT graduates and Zou Yunfan from the second cohort of GTIIT graduates are the outcomes of this training model. They all studied in Suzhou High School and adhered to the “Chutzpah” spirit in Jewish education – to challenge authority, take risks, and tolerate failure. They’ve searched for their own development path on the basis of GTIIT strong scientific research resources. Zou Yunfan stayed at the university during the winter holiday of her junior year to do scientific research and found her own research direction. She made balance between study and life and won the 2021 National Scholarship. She also got offers from ETH Zurich, Johns Hopkins University and many other famous universities. Zhou Wenchang discovered the programs he was good at during his university study. When pursuing his master’s degree, he switched his major from chemical engineering to biomedical engineering. He bravely devoted himself to the field he loved and achieve his dream.

In the future, GTIIT will have further cooperation with Suzhou High School, aiming to cultivate more innovative talents through highly qualified education recourses in China.
