On November 23, Prof. Gong Xingao, Chancellor of Guangdong Technion – Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, led a team to visit Jiangsu Tianyi High School, and gave a science lecture titled "Sunshine Lights up the 'Double Carbon' Future - from Photoelectric Effect to Solar Cell".
At the meeting with the high school, Prof. Gong Xingao introduced the university's programs, faculty and graduates' destination, which demonstrate GTIIT's potential in talents cultivation. Its English-medium teaching, encouragement to question and emphasis on innovation was highly recognized by the participants.
On behalf of GTIIT, Prof. Gong signed cooperative agreement with Jiangsu Tianyi High School and awarded the plaque "Recognized School for Excellent Students". The two sides reached the consensus of cooperation on selecting and cultivating outstanding talents.
As a national exemplary high school and a member of the National Association of Gifted Education, Jiangsu Tianyi High School has attached great importance in talent cultivation, international education and technology education. Its characteristics coincide with GTIIT's vision of cultivating pioneering scientists and researchers with innovation power, global vision and humanities. In recent years, GTIIT has attracted many students who show interests in science and technology to pursue their dreams.
Yan Zhongyu from Cohort 2018 of GTIIT is one of the excellent graduates from Tianyi High School. Four years ago, he came to GTIIT because of its brand-new facilities, strong scientific research capabilities and international faculty. Four years later, he received offers from world-famous universities like Cornell University and Johns Hopkins University with his outstanding academic and research performance. His experience demonstrates that GTIIT has shaped the students' academic ability in questioning and thinking, and helped them to chase their dreams overseas.

Future collaborations between GTIIT and Jiangsu Tianyi High School in talent training, deep educational integration, and STEM talent cultivation within high schools and universities will be explored.
