Celebrate the Chinese New Year in Traditional Chinese Culture

PostTime:1/29/2022

To bid farewell to the old year and usher in the new year, paper cutting, writing the Chinese Character "Fu", making Chinese knots, tasting Chaoshan Gongfu tea...... a variety of folk activities with traditional Chinese New Year and Chaoshan characteristics were held in GTIIT, bringing teachers and students the festive mood of the coming Year of Tiger.

Paper cutting is one of the carriers of ancient Chinese culture. The exquisite hollow-outs convey the well-arranged beauty, while the normal paper conveys the essence of the profound traditional culture. GTIIT teachers and students expressed their best wishes for the New Year with a pair of scissors and skilled hands from conception, folding, painting to carving.

Chinese knot is a symbol of good fortune. "One red rope bonds one blessing", this description reflects the wisdom of the Chinese knot. GTIIT teachers and students experienced the traditional handicrafts and experience the profoundness of traditional Chinese culture.

Pasting "Fu" is a traditional custom during the Spring Festival, which embodies people's pursuit of a happy life. GTIIT teachers and students painted their wishes for the New Year on the paper meticulously.

The teachers and students from home and abroad learned the traditional “gong shou” gesture (a fist in the opposite palm) and its implications, tasted delicious snacks and Chaoshan Gongfu tea, appreciated the performance of traditional Chinese instruments, and spent a happy night with the melodious songs of GTIIT students.

"We are very interested in Chinese culture. It is ancient and extensive, and we like it very much. We have so many activities, and it is a good opportunity to talk with Chinese people and learn about Chinese culture," said Dr. Fabian Rios, a teacher from GTIIT Materials Science and Engineering Program.

"We also celebrate Chinese New Year in Barcelona," said Dr. Sara Rodriguez Martinez, a teacher from GTIIT Biotechnology and Food Engineering Program from Barcelona. "Tonight's activities are so interesting. I've seen so many new things and I'm happy to be with GTers."
