The 2021 China Annual Conference for International Education and Expo (CACIE 2021) opened this morning in Beijing. The theme of the conference is "New Opportunities and Prospects for Building an Open and High-quality Education System". It consists of three parts: "China International Forum on Education", "Education B2B" and "China Education Expo".

Prof. Lin Danming, Pro-Vice Chancellor of the Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, delivered a keynote speech entitled "Ensuring High-quality Development of Sino-Foreign Cooperative Universities with Institutions" in the Forum on High-Quality Development of Chinese-Foreign Cooperation in Running Schools. He introduced the development of GTIIT since its establishment in 2016 and shared the experience of running a research-oriented Sino-foreign cooperative university focusing on science and technology.

GTIIT is the first Chinese-Foreign cooperative educational institution in China to introduce high-quality Israeli higher educational resources and has independent legal status. It is also the representative project of the cooperation between China and Israel in the field of education. The university centers on the realms of environment, energy, and human health. In 2018, GTIIT was included in the "High-level University Construction Project" of Guangdong Province, becoming the youngest university listed in it. Four programs of GTIIT, namely Materials Engineering, Biotechnology and Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Environmental Engineering, were also listed as the key programs for the construction of high-level universities.

In 2021, the majority of the first batch of GTIIT graduates chose to pursue further studies in overseas universities. Over 70% of them received offers from world-renowned universities in North America, Europe, the Asia-Pacific, etc., most of which are among the top 100 universities in the world. About 70 people participated in or completed more than 40 research projects under the guidance of their supervisors and several undergraduates published papers in international journals as the first author or the co-author.

China Annual Conference for International Education and Expo (CACIE) is one of the most comprehensive events of international education in Asia. For more than 20 years, CACIE has been developed into a prominent platform for the international education community to discover the latest innovations, new strategies and best practices, explore opportunities to build institutional partnerships, seek innovative approaches for high-quality development and solutions to global challenges, and draw a blueprint for the future of international education.
