On behalf of Shantou Municipal Party Committee and Shantou Municipal Government, Wen Zhanbin, Party Secretary of Shantou visited GTIIT campus and sent holiday greetings to all the staff members for the upcoming 37th Teachers' Day in China. He said that Shantou government would continue to support the development of GTIIT toward building a high-level university. Prof. Gong Xingao, Chancellor of GTIIT and Prof. Lin Danming, Pro-Vice Chancellor of GTIIT accompanied the visit.

Wen Zhanbin and his team visited the campus and laboratories and had in-depth conversations with GTIIT leaders and researchers. The visitors expressed appreciation to the vision, discipline setting, teaching and research quality of the university.

Wen Zhanbin pointed out that talent cultivation and development is fundamental to socio-economic development. Mr. Wen stressed the importance of industry-university research cooperation. He said teaching and research at universities should be closely aligned with local socio-economic development, especially industrial development. Students should be encouraged for innovation and entrepreneurship.

Wen Zhanbin also emphasized the determination of providing all-out support to the development of GTIIT, with positive feedbacks for dealing with difficulties faced by teachers and experts who come to work in GTIIT in terms of working and living conditions.

Today, the conference to celebrate the 2021 Teachers' Day and commend outstanding teachers was held in Guangdong Province and Shantou City. Prof. Wang Nan from GTIIT Materials Science and Engineering Program won the honor of "2021 Outstanding Teacher in Guangdong". Li Min, Director of GTIIT News and Public Affairs Department and Secretary of GTIIT Youth League Committee, won the honor of "2021 Outstanding Education Staff in Shantou".
