Preparatory semester:

overcome confusion and build up self-confidence

Fengchuan shared the story of how he wanted to take a suspension in the beginning, then he turned back to the right track in his life and study, and got 12 offers for graduate study in his senior year. He expressed his understanding of the frustration and confusion that first-year students generally felt when entering university and shared similar stories from his freshman year. "Finding a way to solve your emotions" is his weapon to overcome confusion and lack of confidence. "Communicate with professors and teachers, talk to friends and family, and at the same time make continuous efforts and perseverance to become better and stronger," Fengchuan suggested to the freshmen. Due to the differences in thinking and the study mode, students under the exam-oriented education system might find it hard to adapt to the Israeli education system. However, this thinking and learning mode is the charm of Israeli education. Fengchuan also suggested that first-year students gradually open their minds and stop hiding in exam-oriented education.

Cooperative learning:

communicate with each other and broaden your mind

Zhinuo shared with everyone what he believes is the importance of cooperative learning. He believes that it is challenging to do all the work alone in college life, and cooperation is win-win. But cooperation does not mean "plagiarism" but communication after thinking. "You may explore many things by yourself, but your mind and views will only be opened up by the help from others. Without communication, we probably always do what we think is right." Zhinuo also advised freshmen to ask "why" more often when they encounter problems. When thinking about how to ask questions, the process itself is also a way of thinking.

Cognition of majors:

connected with the reality to inspire the motivation

Hanglin used the compulsory course of Structure and Property of Engineering Material as a sample to share his understanding of Material Science Engineering. The structure stands for primary subjects, and the property stands for application. The study of this major is like the study of this course:  only by understanding the structure of materials can we know their characteristics and applications. In the same way, only by learning the foundation courses well can you better comprehend the following applied courses. "Science and engineering go hand in hand."  Hanglin shared that he also encountered many subjects that he found very difficult in the four years of study. But he was so excited when he found out that the knowledge could be combined and connected with practical applications. And this has also become his motivation to persevere.

If start again:

Respect the choice and follow the original intention

Zhuonan shared her little regrets during her four years of university. Procrastination is one of the shortcomings she wanted to overcome the most. She pointed out that many students like to start rushing homework right before the deadline, making the knowledge learned very weak. Procrastination also made her once miss many precious opportunities. Later, she bought a calendar book, wrote all the deadlines on the calendar book, and allocated time in advance, improving time management.

Zhinuo also shared his innovation and entrepreneurial ideas. He believes that he would still make the same decision even if things start over again. Before submitting his application for graduate study, he sought the advice from many professionals, but he still felt confused after asking. "Choices require some little impulse. No one can guarantee which way would be right," he suggested that the freshmen take things as they come. At the same time, he shared his time management to learn science and engineering knowledge while considering the dream of innovation and entrepreneurship.  Zhinuo's sharing left a deep impression on many first-year students, and after the sharing session, they surrounded him and continued to talk with him.

In the Q&A session, the freshmen enthusiastically asked questions and talked freely. From the kind answers of the senior peers, the freshmen gained the sharing of experiences about "responding to English teaching," "planning for the future," "study and hobbies," and so on.

The experience sharing of senior peers to break through the fog and success to achieve the goals must have brought a lot of inspiration to the freshmen who will soon set sail to explore more unknowns. Wish you all the best! Living up to your youth, and looking forward to seeing you next time! GT is proud of you!
