As a young Sino-foreign cooperative university, GTIIT has great potential for development. In April, Prof. Gong Xingao joined GTIIT as the first “Academician Chancellor” of a university in the east, west and north of Guangdong; subsequently, Prof. David Gershoni, a renowned professor of the Technion and former director of the Precision Science Department of the Israel Science Foundation, joined GTIIT as the Vice Chancellor; meanwhile, Prof. Wayne D. Kaplan, former Executive Vice President of the Technion, also joined GTIIT as Pro-Vice Chancellor for academic affairs. Since then, GTIIT has entered a new period of development. In July, the first cohort of undergraduate students graduated from GTIIT. 90% of them were admitted for overseas postgraduate studies. Among these students, more than 80% of them received offers from the top 100 universities in the world.
