From August 10th to 11th, Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of Technology held a-two-day Brainstorming Symposium with the theme of Promoting and Development of GTIIT. Prof. Gong Xingao, Chancellor of GTIIT; Prof, David Gershoni, Vice Chancellor of GTIIT; Prof. Lin Danming, Pro-Vice Chancellor of GTIIT; Mr. Eran Gal-Or, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Director General of GTIIT; representatives of faculty and directors of administrative departments attended the symposium.
The symposium provides an efficient communication platform between various departments and university leaders, visually demonstrated each department's daily work, and proposed solutions for the challenges encountered.
As a young Sino-foreign cooperative university, GTIIT has great potential for development. In April, Prof. Gong Xingao joined GTIIT as the first “Academician Chancellor” of a university in the east, west and north of Guangdong; subsequently, Prof. David Gershoni, a renowned professor of the Technion and former director of the Precision Science Department of the Israel Science Foundation, joined GTIIT as the Vice Chancellor; meanwhile, Prof. Wayne D. Kaplan, former Executive Vice President of the Technion, also joined GTIIT as Pro-Vice Chancellor for academic affairs. Since then, GTIIT has entered a new period of development. In July, the first cohort of undergraduate students graduated from GTIIT. 90% of them were admitted for overseas postgraduate studies. Among these students, more than 80% of them received offers from the top 100 universities in the world.
