Wang Xi, Vice Governor of Guangdong Provincial Government led a team to visit GTIIT yesterday, to learn about GTIIT development and campus construction.

The team had discussions and exchanges with GTIIT’s leaders and faculty representatives. They expressed appreciation to faculty who have made contributions to GTIIT’s teaching and learning and international cultural exchanges. They also fully appreciated GTIIT’s educational quality and achievements. Wang Xi pointed out that GTIIT is a typical representative of Sino-foreign cooperative educational institutions, with phased breakthroughs achieved in faculty introduction, research innovation and industrial cooperation, and has played a positive role in local economic and social development. He wished GTIIT will continue to maintain quality education, optimize student recruitment model, enhance research capabilities, and gain great achievements in the near future.

Wang Xi stressed the significance of promoting high-quality development of higher education by closely adhering to the fundamental task of cultivating talents. During the visit to the construction site of GTIIT’s south campus, he pointed out that universities should further enhance research capacity, promote the application of scientific and technological achievements. He also suggested to build industrial innovation park around campus to vigorously promote industry-university-research cooperation. He said it is important to speed up campus construction and improve surrounding infrastructure to create a comfortable campus environment for teachers and students, and ensure that the campus will be put into use as scheduled. He concluded that it is necessary to optimize talent cultivation mode, find solutions for student recruitment, funding and faculty introduction. Difficulties faced by teachers and experts who come to work in Shantou should be handled, so as to to better promote high-level development of higher education.
