Under the background of new Gaokao reformation in Guangdong Province, Guangdong Technion - Israel Institute of Technology held the headmaster forum on March 28, to discuss how to cultivate professional talents in science and engineering in Shantou City, and provide an option for students who are interested in science and engineering.
Lin Danming, Pro-Vice Chancellor of GTIIT gave the opening speech and brief introduction of the university. He also shared the latest offered received by the senior students from top universities all over the world.
Prof. Daniel Tan, Deputy Head of Materials Science and Engineering Program introduced the features of GTIIT from the aspects of teaching mode and the methods of cultivating talents.
Assist. Prof. Bo Kong, Deputy Head of Chemical Engineering Program tried to break the stereotype of chemical engineering with his own experience.
Mr. Huang Huiyang, board member of GTIIT, former Deputy Director of Shantou NPC Standing Committee and former Director of Education Bureau of Shantou City encouraged the participants to work for the cultivation of high-level science and technology talents in Shantou City.
Headmasters of high schools in Shantou City discussed actively on the aspects of GTIIT's scholarships, teaching methods, lab equipments, etc.
Mr. Jin Chunlin, Vice Director of Education Bureau of Shantou City hoped that high schools and universities can work together to contribute in talents cultivating and social development.
Headmasters visited the Analytical Chemistry Lab and learned about the lab equipments and safety requirements from Dr. Michail Paraskevas, Senior Teaching Fellow and Lab Manager of GTIIT.
