As the spring festival approaches, a variety of hands-on activities about Chinese New Year customs, including making Spring Festival couplets, paper-cuts and Chinese knot, were launched in GTIIT.
"While the rising sun shines over each and every household, eople would put up new peachwood charm for the old." During the event, a piece of well-known ancient poetry, New Year's Day (元日), brought participants to the festival's warm atmosphere.
Do you know what the traditional Chinese New Year is like? Have you ever heard the story of "Nian", appreciated the Spring Festival couplets together with the Chinese calligraphy art, and tasted the must-have snacks of Lunar New Year in Chaoshan area? Follow us to know more.
With the guidance of student volunteers, participants wrote the Chinese Character "Fu", which means "good fortune", and made Chinese knots to extend their best wishes.
Folding red square paper and cutting out some small rectangles carefully, participants were happy to see a beautiful pattern when extending the paper cut art.
Apart from hands-on activities, there were also various Chaoshan cuisine waiting for discovery.
The wonderful Chinese instrument performance also fascinated participants.
The joy and lively atmosphere created an unforgettable night for all participants. Wish you happiness and prosperity in the coming year!
