To strengthen the life and health education of teachers and students, and improve their self-help skills, a first aid training was delivered by municipal Red Cross at GTIIT last week.
The course combines theory with practice. Participants gained experience through on-site training focused on emergency assessment, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), automated external defibrillator (AED), airway management, trauma and other emergency medical services (EMS).
When it comes to CPR session, experts provided a step-to-step guide to performing CPR: ask questions and taps on the person's shoulders; call 120 and ask someone else to help; check for breathing, if they are not breathing, start CPR; open their airways; perform rescue breaths. After intense training and assessment, a total of 49 trainees earned Red Cross First Aid Certification.
"It's important to equip yourselves with first aid knowledge and skills. It can save someone's life if necessary," said the trainees.
GTIIT is equipped with three AEDs, which can be found on the 4th floor of the Teaching Lab Building, the 1st floor of Administration Building, and the corridor of the Research Building and the Administration Building (5th floor).
