Recently, the 3rd Annual “Gaochuang” Cup Guangdong University Science and Technology Achievement Transformation Roadshow Contest, sponsored by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education and undertaken by the Guangdong University Research Findings Commercialization Center, was announced. Dr. Yigal Achmon's "New sustainable waste management solutions for aquaculture wastewater and fish carcasses" from the Biotechnology and Food Engineering program, Professor Moris Eisen's team "High-performance membrane materials for water recycling" from the Program of Chemical Engineering, Professor Tan Qi team's "High-performance hard piezoelectric ceramic formula and process" of the Materials Science and Engineering program, as well as Prof. Mario Lanza team's "high-precision two-dimensional material transfer system" were shortlisted for the contest for the next round. GTIIT is currently ranked No. 6 for its number of shortlisted projects among Guangdong Universities, and No. 1 among sino-foreign partnership universities.
The competition is divided into the collection of scientific and technological achievements, docking of scientific and technological achievements with market resources, technological innovation and business model integration roadshow competitions, etc. The scientific and technological achievements cover five technical fields: advanced manufacturing, electronic information, biomedicine, energy conservation and environmental protection, and new materials. More than 200 achievements from 80 universities inside and outside the province were selected for the preliminary round.
This activity aims to provide a service platform for university scientific research teams, speed up the collection of innovation achievements and resources, and better encourage university scientific research personnel to further actively carry out high-quality scientific and technological achievements transformation activities and comprehensively improve the scientific and technological level of the university. Technical innovation and ability to serve society.
Li Mingyuan, a post-doctoral researcher of Professor Moris Eisen’s team, said that the "High Performance Membrane Material for Water Circulation" project aims to recycle low-pollution domestic sewage, namely gray water. Using the technology developed by the project, gray water can be washed and the corresponding membrane materials can be synthesized to separate oil and water in the food and petroleum industries. "At present, we have conducted a series of tests on the membrane flux and rejection rate of the membrane developed by the team. The results show that the performance of the membrane is better than most industrialized industrial membranes currently on the market and has high application value. I look forward to finding suitable cooperative enterprises through this competition in order to promote this technology on a large scale."
